Studio is finally 100% finished and I had my first client. Basic fashion shoot, catalogue stuff so nothing too creative required. I'll get around to strick some shots into my pics page at some point. Its amazing how easier it is to bang out a decent frame in a studio, especially when you really tune in how the walls bounce light. I must get some polyboard painted black so I can deaden the effect a little for more creative stuff, but for this one it just hammered the shadows and was perfect for what the client wanted.
The car is stagnent, becasue I've been busy, but it does have new (and illegal) american number plates on it which look very cool. I'm off toa local specialist on the weekend to get some idea of what we can do to the engine brakes and suspension. The gf of the guy who runs the shop drives a 318 '68 so he is pretty up to speed on what you can do.
The house has been invaded by nature! The other half was on business in germany and I was left at home to deal with a bird that flew down the chimney. Every time I tried to get the flue down I couldn't see it and thought it had made a miraculous escape, but five minutes later it was thrashing around. After a few days I guessed that the poor thing had had it, so I once again took the flue out only to get attacked by a wood pigeon the size of a house cat. Manged to get my hands on it and it flew straight into the nearest tree.
The fox is still digging up my fucking garden and my 'everything has a right to live' feelings are getting overcome by the urge to take a 12 guage to it..only joking, but it rreally is pissing me off. To add to it I have been hearing scrabbling under the floor. I eventually found a nice little whole my fucking useless builders left in the extension to the house, just bit enough for......A FUCKING RAT!!!!!! I actually quite like rats and always wanted a pet one, but a common or garden weils disease carrying Ratus Norvegicus? No thank you! I've filled the attic with poison, even drilled holes in the floor and poured it through them. I left a trap outside the hole (no way could it skip over that) but I've heard nothing for a few days. Now I just wait for the smell of dead rat and the flies!!
Oh, and all this happens when my GF is once again away on business, this time spending ten days in the maldives, working very hard. She called me today from her over water chalet where she was sunbathing and drinking champagne. I'm here with a Peroni and a bottle of rat poison, its a hard life!
I'm having a funny few weeks. I seem to have slogged my guts out and barely met my minimum target, yet last month I panicked about what I had on the books and was about 25% over. I need some time to chill, I was taking this week off, but I have had a this fashion shoot, a couple of daily paper jobs and a ton of paperwork, so it hasn't panned out. I'm doing a job for the Daily Express tomorrow, but after that I'm putting my feet up and having a clear weekend.
I need a boost, I'm stewing here by myself with nothing but work and a non domesticated rat for company, I'm smoking and drinking way too much....save me someone, say something nice!
