I think you are! I now present the ymonster and Calamity visit Twwly-country (with a side trip to Toronto) show!
Here we go--spoilered for your lovely convenience (tons of images! weee!)
→ THURSDAY ←
Woke up crazy early, head to airport, fly to Toronto, rent car, drive to Twwly's farm, meet the lovely family, check into hotel, nap. I'm so sick from the cold I started to get the day before, plus the dayquil, plus the benadryl for my animal allergies, plus the number flying and the car did to my sinuses, that I have to crap out and stay in bed that night and for most of the next day. → FRIDAY ←
Woke up late after sleeping in. Ymonster was already at VonScotch's shop, aka Sugar Shack Tattoo working on a cover-up chest piece he'd spent most of the night drawing while I was sleeeeeeping. Hung around for a few hours, then took a walk and snapped some pictures (here's a link to the picture post I made while still in Canada) before heading back to the farm to hang out with Twwly and the little mister in her life. We had a lovely dinner out that night as well. Images below! ↵
→ SATURDAY ←
This was the best day i've had in YEARS! I woke up feeling a LOT better, then took a long shower, and got all cute because I was feeling up to it. On my way to the shop, I met up with Tim's client and her friend from the day before, who said they were going to a beach to go drink and asked me if I wanted to go with them. HELL YEAH! So we swung by the shop, then headed to the beach, got a few drinks, and were headed back when we discovered a GO-KART place that was open. So, naturally, we HAD to stop and race (I've never been before, but I totally kicked ass and WON!) We were going to see a movie after that, but it was getting late, so we got a few beers and some snacks at the local pub instead (and I spent HOURS dodging questions about why I don't want to have butt-sex). When Tim was done tattooing, we met up with him and his client, and then headed over to the hacienda del Twwly for a BBQ, bonfire, fireworks, roasted marshmallows, and.... WIZARD BATTLES! (aka, beer + roman candle fireworks + a road in the country = AWESOME!) Images below! ↵
→ SUNDAY ←
We woke up early and got ready to go to brunch with the Twwly crew at her mum and dad's house. They were, as you would probably imagine, as lovely as she is (her mum even stopped by later on in the week to give me a recipe for the deeeee-licious french toast she made us.....mmmmmmmm!) Sunday was the only day it rained (a lovely warm rain, and only for a few hours), so we laid low the rest of the day before taking a little sunset walk along the beach (teehee). Images below! ↵
→ MONDAY ←
Had breakfast with "The Fam" again, before Tim got his knuckles tattooed by VonScotch (see below!) We had talked about maybe going fishing that night, but it got a little late by the time Tim's hands were done, so we decided to post-pone it and to watch Pan's Labyrinth at the farm instead (which, by the way, if you haven't seen yet, YOU NEED TO). Images below! ↵
→ TUESDAY ←
This sort of escapes my memory....let's see. I believe Tuesday was the day that Timmy was pooped from.... well, everything, so he napped while I helped Twwly out with the Bob-ster in order for her to work in the garden a little more. Did I mention that FRESH asparagus is absolutely amazing?? It doesn't even taste like I thought--it's sweet, for one thing, not bitter. All of the food up there was so fresh, especially the steak. Mmmmmm. We also had dinner with VonScotch's family, which was delicious and fun (they all have such great accents and stories--not to mention, it's so rad to meet tattooed grandparents!), and they helped Tim out with some scans he needed to make for a project he's working on. → WEDNESDAY ←
Met up at the shop, and then decided to go for a walk along the boardwalk and down to the beach. It was, again, gorgeous weather--clear, sunny, warm, and breezy! Seriously.... pristine. Grabbed some lunch while VonScotch tattooed (and saw some local wildlife; see below), did a little shopping, and had some amazing gelato (sour apple and chocolate--heavenly!). When things were all cleaned up at the shop, we headed back to the farm to get the fishing gear (and realizing that we forgot the worms at the hotel, we dug for a few!) and pile into the truck. I hadn't been fishing in YEARS! I can definitely see why people get hooked on it as a past time (pun not intended, but certainly enjoyed). I think those pictures speak for themselves, really. Stopped on the way back at a Tim Horton's (my first and only venture into what I am told is a Canadian staple, eh?) before hunkering down for our last night in the hotel. Images below! ↵
→ THURSDAY ←
Woke up early to finish packing (and still managed to take longer than it should have) before meeting up with the fam at the farm for a yummy breakfast. We wanted to head out early to spend the day in Toronto, but the gods of iPod madness were being uncooperative and we ended up leaving a few hours later. Said our goodbyes ( ) and headed oot on the road to Toronto. We stopped in at [/SPOILER] Rue Morgue to check out their home base (which, by the way, was awesome--we got the grand tour of the funeral home-turned-horror-movie-magazine from none other than the gorgeous editor-in-chief, ZOMBIEQUEEN) before we dropped by to see Bob Tyell working at the Night Gallery. We had to run straight from there to meet up with Lucy and her husband at the train, and we sat down with them for a super-quick sushi dinner (I wish we could have had more time! She's an absolute doll!). We dashed back to the gallery, said goodbye to Bob and got some quick directions to the airport, jumped in the car, and then MISSED the exit (dammit!), freaked out, called Bob for more directions, felt nauseous, returned the rental car, made it to the airport only 5 minutes later than we'd orginally hoped (with almost 2 hours to spare), only to find out that OUR FLIGHT WAS CANCELLED for no real reason. D'OH! So frustrating! Tim got on the phone and booked one for the next day, which ended up wprking out better because we got to fly into LGA instead of Newark anywho. We called back ZOMBIEQUEEN and Bob, who graciously offered to pick us up at the airport and then put us up for the night. It worked out nicely in the end, because we got some nice quality time to hang out with them and get some dinner in a cute rooftop restaurant without being rushed. It was a great way to wind down the week. Images below! ↵
→ FRIDAY ←
Woke up, went to airport, had gates change a million times without us being told anything, discovered I had a rebelling va-jay-jay, had the flight delayed 2 hours, finally got to NYC only to be told that only six pieces of luggage from our flight were on the plane (and SURPRISE! Tim and my bags were not any of them....), and then had he hottest, longest cab ride back to his house where we were greeted by a house full of boxes and un-walkable floorspace from his roomate moving out. WELCOME HOME! ....not.
And so, in conclusion, Canada was amazing. I met amazing people, did some really fun things, got to hang out with my man (:love, and actually relaxed for a few hours. It seems the older I get, the more I tend to meet awesome people in couples--it's as though by your late-twenties, the coolest people somehow magnetize and find other cool people to hang out with (instead of bumming around with the "what-the-heck-is-s/he-doing-with-that-asshole/bitch" crowd of the teens/early twenties). That's probably the case, and if so, I am all for it.
My thanks to Twwly, VonScotch, their lovely families, ZOMBIEQUEEN, and Bob again for being such gracious hosts and tour guides to ymonster and I. We had a great time--and I'm sure that no one would argue with me if I said it all was worth it just to see Tim finally relax and unclench his jaw for a few days.
