This has been driving me crazy, sad, anxious, emotionally sick... so I'm gonna let it pour...
We cannot stop the refugees (not migrants) from coming to Europe. We shouldn’t anyway. The world is of all of us. Earth is humanity’s home and there are no frontiers for life. However, if you let your fear and xenophobia control you, you will create the chaos and violence you fear.We cannot stop the refugees from coming to Europe, not anymore anyway. But we can still choose to open our arms and embrace our fellow humans who were driven from their homes and families by war and starvation. We can make them feel accepted and integrated, instead of making them pariahs and unwelcome. That can be the difference between future separatism or a united human force. Religion can only separate what experience confirms. We cannot let fear and difference of religion drive us to that point.
People don’t get that the more they fear the more future chaos and violence they’re laying the bases for… it makes me literally sick that they cannot see the false propaganda against the refugees (claiming they’re terrorist that come to conquer Europe, that they don’t accept the help of the red cross, that they use violence against Greeks, etc, all false). That European people are willing to receive the refugees with violence and prejudice. Poor families and their kids who had no options but to run. I feel like crying all the time thinking of the harm this propaganda does, reading the comments and posts of my countrymen full of hate for people they don’t know and that are facing a situation they can only conceive in nightmares.
Also, if you think your country is poor or struggling and cannot take that many people in, know that incentives are being provided to governments and that you cannot blame the refugees for the stupid decisions your government makes or has made in the past.
There’re 20 million refugees, what do you think would be the best option, let them die? Not allow these humans the chance to run from war and starvation? Even if 4 million of them come, they will still only represent a 0.4% of Europe’s population, so don’t go blaming them for anything that may happen in the future, we are the ones setting the example and responsible for the future of Europe.
Please, don’t let fear and cultural differences make you inhuman. Please, assess your preconceptions, read and inform yourself before posting malign comments and before thinking of using psychological or physical violence.
Although this is not the light subject of the week's homework I hope you notice it @missy, @rambo, @lyxzen.
Thanks for "listening".
