Frustrated Distillation
Drifting in a sea of dis pair.
Not a WE, only an I
Hoping on a passing spirit,
Some day soon she will make her way into my heart,
And I to hers.
Forgetting all the loneliness of the past,
And living in the fullness of light,
And life.
I hope for my other half,
Not just a wife,
But, a part of me, hidden for so long in the shadows,
The parts that are not me, yet they are more me than I can conceive,
Or concede.
I will recognize her when she comes.
That same rose in a winter storm look in her eye,
The soft and supple touch of her essence,
to mine.
It is that place, that time,
Which I must needs to find.
I can not row this boat much farther.
Now seems like a good time to give up.
All is not lost I know,
Only waiting to be found.
I float on a pond,
And across a formidable land mass,
On the other side of this existence,
There is an ocean so blue-green that it would sting my eyes to see it.
And in the middle of that great ocean,
Is my lover and friend,
Calling out to me,
Across the impossible miles and boundaries, across the human mountains, across the emotional distance,
On the other side of the wall,
Because of the grace of GOD,
Go I.
