Question, does this E-mail that I sent to my new Landlord seem too pushy?.....
Mr. Lofgren,
I just had a few things I need to inquire about.
The first is of course the heat, which I assume needs to be turned on in the building. It has been a little cold, to say the least, these past couple of nights. And last night, I decided it was time to turn on some heat. Well, I set the thermostat at 70 degrees, and as far as I can tell the heat in the building must not be on, because it continued to be just as cold in my apartment.I did notice that the thermostat indicated it should be around 64 degrees in my apartment. It does not feel like it at all. So, I am wondering on what date the heat is traditionally turned on?
As to the roaches. I noticed that there is roach bait in my large closet. And I also noticed that Professional Pest Control was here around 9/03/2008. However; the notice that was left by their technician does not indicate what if any chemicals were applied, and/or where they were applied. And when I brought my laundry up, I noticed that there was a bug, which looked suspiciously similiar to a roach, in and amongst my towels. I have not seen any in my apartment proper. But, it does leave me wondering if this apartment has suffered roach infestation before, and whether or not I should be on the look out for them now? So, if you could advise me on what to expect I would greatly appreciate it.
The keys that I have do Not turn the lock on the door that faces Broom street. I have tried them both, and wiggled them around, but, the door will not open. So, I am wondering if I need a different key? The door that faces the parking lot is open, for anyone to pull and enter. And my key does turn that lock. So, again please advise as to what is going to happen going forward? Will that door be security locked at some point?
Other minor issues that need to be addressed include the regrouting of the tile in my kitchen/entrance area, as it was never properly grouted, and is cracking and falling out. Is this something that I need to take care of on my own? If so is the correct color of grout available in the building.
The area under my kitchen sink appears to have been flooded at some point, and there is a lingering wretched smell. I have tried lysol cleaner, and Oust spray, and try to keep it as free of debris as is possible. I guess I would just like to know what happened down there, and if there is any way to get rid of the smell?
Overall I like the apartment. Thank you for allowing me to be one of your tenants. And I thank you for your cooperation in these matters.
Scott

I hope you can solve all of those issues soon. I've lived in a cold house before and it's horrible! And the roach part is simply disgusting.
I'd personally call the landlord to solve these things, as some of them seem urgent.
