I'm taking the CLEP humanities test this afternoon. I haven't studied at all. Oh well. I don't like to study. Let's see if I miraculously pass anyway...
My former best friend Alex is stationed here at Fort Meade now.. we went to a softball game last night and then watched 'Anchorman.' I've missed him a lot, but it was a little awkward (for me) at first because in Florida we were together 24/7, and now we both have new friends. It was still fun seeing him. We might go to the batting cages with his friend Terry this weekend - I guess I can handle bonding with his new friends.
Speaking of new friends, Xanippi might come visit me sometime soon. Fun, fun. I just have to figure out what we'll do.. usually my friends and I just randomly do things at the last minute.
I'm having abdominal pains. First the 3-week period, and now random stomach pains. Either I have kidney stones again, or something else is wrong. Too bad the medical clinic here doesn't ever do anything helpful. I should probably go to Bethesda, but it's 45 minutes away and I hate driving out there.
Andrew's bird (that he bought last week) died, so he traded it in for a new, live bird yesterday. He doesn't seem too upset that his old bird died.. he just said "I hope this one isn't dead when I get home today." He sounded so cheerful though - this conversation amused me.
I wish it was August 29 so I could start my college classes. I want to take more than 2 classes, but my chain of command won't approve it.. I know I can do it, I just want to knock this shit out as fast as possible. Classes at the local community college transfer to Angelo State University, so if I decide to get out of the military I can just go to my hometown university and already have some credits.
Natalie is making me hot pink curtains with black lace trim.. oh yeah. My apartment is going to be so random. She's also going to give me cooking lessons. Her dad is a chef, and he taught her, so now she's passing it on to me. I'm excited because everything she makes is excellent. She brought in turkey and spinach meatloaf yesterday - yum.
I need to call my sister again. I want her to come stay with me, but I keep forgetting that she's still in high school and can't jet off whenever she wants. Her mom is nervous about letting her come by herself - Mandy has never traveled alone or even been on an airplane. She's not even allowed to drive to Columbia from Camden, and it's only a 20 minute trip. I've been flying by myself since I was 11, and driving since I was 15... I can't believe how sheltered she is.
Wow, I just read this article about women's friendships, and it seemed pretty true to life.. especially the part about how awkward it can be to try to make new female friends as an adult.
