WARNING: My brain is on serious ADD mode. Pre-apologies.
One, I would like to make it known that, where I HATE being in courthouses because typically that means I'm about to get yelled at or fined out the ass, I find it to be one of my favorite places to think. There is never a shortage of characters and always a variety of lifestyles there. Today's "Thank you for dismissing my ticket" visit epiphanies:
1) I am glad I am not a broke mom with a jillion kids. Even if they hadn't waived my court date/extra fine, I would have been totally okay paying it after thinking about the fact that I am a young, single woman with a good job and have no one to support but myself...unlike so many of the faces I saw tonight. Are court fees inconvenient? Yes. Am I likely to have to sacrifice a new sweater or one happy hour for them? Yes. But am I likely to have to sacrifice a meal? Not anymore. And I'm thankful.
2) People who laugh at children laughing are instantly my friends. The end.
*flip*
I was also thinking today how amazing it is to me that the words "George Bush" and "hero" can still be uttered...and not just uttered but uttered passionately...in the same sentence. Weird. Infuriating. Which reminds me...*flip*
I went to a faculty meeting last week and our principal made a comment about how our school expects a lot from our students. We are top 4% in the state and therefore our "standard" is above average. His point was...even our "low" kids are doing alright because our "low" kids are mostly just average students. And average, he points out, can be very successful. See GW for instance. I laughed out loud. I'm not sure that was the best choice in a mostly-conservative audience. But really? I don't care WHAT your political party is...GW was known for being the most dim-witted official we've ever had in our government. Period. Laugh justified. Which reminds me...*flip*
I saw a hilarious post from a friend the other day depicting a University of Georgia tshirt on sale at a Georgian Walmart. It said "Unversity of Georgia Bulldogs". This makes me want to go tshirt-typo hunting this weekend. I am strangely gleeful about that find...
*flip*
And one more thing. I love cities at night. One of my favorite things to do is drive over the bridge and through the city lights. One of my OTHER favorite things to do is walk through a school of people like a lone fish...swimming my way through the crowds and taking in the scenery. The energy buzzes through my veins like a drug. Is this strange? *flip*
I'm going to clean my apartment now.
