Hope you all had an amazing holiday season and didn't get too drained financially or emotionally. We are now into a new year and I really have some positive hopes for this year! How about you all, what are you hoping to achieve, do or receive this year?
I tried pretty hard to be jolly, but working retail kind of ruins that sometimes. It was also kind of hard being away from our families, they really help with the christmas cheer, especially my mother in law (who I still swear is secretly Mrs. Claus). We got to fly back to Seattle on Dec 27th (my momma's birthday) for a few days. But I made Corey put up some christmas lights around the house and around the birdcage (since we didn't actually have a christmas tree), to add to the cherry glow, besides having the Cthulhumas tree up!
I have made a couple friends at work, so Corey and I decided to throw a "Drunk Gingerbread" Party, which really was just a couple of cool people, sitting around my dining room, sipping cocktails, eating rum soaked gummy bears, eating more sugar than building with it and making some decently cool gingerbread houses.
The trip back to seattle was great. Got to celebrate my momma's birthday with her, celebrate a belated Christmas with my parents and Corey's family (we got spoiled with things we really needed for the house) and on our last day, we got to see my oldest friend Redd (who was in town visiting her dad) for her birthday and go all over Seattle, eating and drinking.
Have I ever mentioned how awesome my dad is? Well if not...he's pretty awesome. His friend was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and the awareness color is purple. All the other friends wore shirts or ribbons, my dad....oh my dad...he dyed his beard purple! This was weeks ago, but I begged him to redye it for a picture together, and he obliged. I love my daddy!
We came home to Spokane, to snow that had frozen into a solid sheet. It's been very very cold..5 degrees in the morning and highs of 20. Today it decided to snow again, everything is crisp and white. Have to head to work soon...and I'm not afraid of the snow...I'm afraid of the sheet of ice under it and the idiots on the road...hope they've plowed some of the more major streets.
Thank you to the few amazing people who have donated and spread the link around. We are starting to catch up on the bills thanks to some Christmas present money. My in-laws are coming over next weekend with a uhaul to bring the presents we received that weren't quite...plane ride sized. Still have to finish painting before they come over, because they will be helping us build our new headboard, dresser and cat tree for the Astrid kitty butt.
Hope the new year is off to a nice start for everyone
