So on my way home I had to slam on the brakes and skid to a stop because someone ran a yield sign. This is the second time in about two weeks that I almost made someone a hood ornament. Do not get it. The first time, someone pulled right out in front of me on ice slick roads. Like, they could see me coming (if they were actually looking, assuming that) but then right at the last minute, slowly pulled out and got right in my lane, just as I was right on top of them. It was like they were saying "It's slick, I better pull out real slow like... right in front of that other car" I slammed on the brakes and was lucky to skid into the other lane (not the oncoming traffic) but still lost control and slammed into the curb pretty hard. It wrecked my snow guard and did untold damage to the suspension (possibly).
Today, I was coming home, in the neighboorhood, and was just going up the main road, when this car goes straight through a yield sign at an intersection right in front of me. I skidded to a stop before T-boning them. I was maybe going 30, but that still would have been hard enough to do damage if we made contact. I think they stopped at the next intersection, but I basically said "whatever" and went home.
The bright side? My car is old and on it's last legs, and I'm planning on getting a new one next year. So really, I'm not worried about my car. I'd just like to save as long as I can. Oh well.
How are the rest of you doing tonight?
