my boss and her then fiance were invited to the his family's home so that the family could meet his Soon-to-be-wife.
A nervous occation in and of itself, this was made more difficult in that the man's mother is a millionaire, a devoted catholic and white.
the new wife to be is not catholic, is not white and although comes from a very welthy family, she has nothing in common with her soon to be mother-in-law other than the love for their man,
Pleasantries where exchaged, polite conversation while sipping tea and munching on cookies followed. my boss was noticibly nervous and her soon to be Mother-In-Law did not seem impressed.
Dinner was served.
the family gathered around the dinner table. His five children, some sisters, some aunts some uncles and the Mother in Law.
todays meal: Pig Head.
the pig looked right at my nervous boss, eyes wide open.
the family was served, one by one. every one exclaimed how good the food smelled, how wonderful that this elderly woman had gathered the strength to make such an incredible feast. forks in hand they waited for my boss to take the first bite.
"please, eat" urged the elderly woman
silk blouse drenched in sweat, hands gripping the fork until it shook, my boss stalled by taking a sip of water.
she looked around the table, there was no escape.
she was petrified, she couldnt even shake her head in polite refusal..
silence. she though everyone could hear her nervous heart.
from the other end of the table she hears something that sounds like laughter, increasing, infecting each of the dinner guests one by one, until they couldnt hold it anymore the Mother in Law broke down first..
"I cant belive you actually thought we were going to eat this!!" the Mother in Law laughed.
the Pig Head was taken away and a much more civilized dinner took its place.
she was 96 years old.
and today she died.
And congrats on the deletion.
