Here are some of my sonnets. Please enjoy
The Epimeliad
Your lips votive of the kisses I would plant
On your lips as sweet as mint and sugar
In a hearty cup of tea that, alas, cant
Sooth the awful lust my heart does auger
O charming Epimeliad the longer
You evade my amorous arms
The more you ensure my love grows stronger
The more you will engender my stalwart charm
I long for the supple apples tween your arms
The sense of your name and your holy trust
These aromatic treasures must meet no harm
Protect them from the ruin of earthly lust
Your intentions as pure as your hair is sallow
Your blood is worthy, as rich as tallow
***
I Saw the Buddha Weep
Tis an endless and splendid damnation
Through the repugnant heart of the matter
Forgive, enlightened one, my temptation
Alas! The endless calm my longing does shatter
Prudence is called for O tranquil master
The road to enlightenment is so long
How I yearn to reach Nirvana faster
Even though to rush is most surely wrong
I calmly sing you this sorrowful song
To tell the story of my agony
And the hell where I certainly belong
Within silence lays an epiphany
Though sadly all I hear in your stillness
Is a sob, a moan for meaningfulness
***
City of Five Names
Sousse, the sand dyed city on the blue sea
Thy name was Hunerikopolis once
Abode of Vandals, land of sea borne plenty
The very air tastes of olives and quince
Place of puzzles, Justinianopolis
Pulsing with an enigmatic rhythm
Awash in a warm aromatic bliss
Joined in harmony with a living drum
Hadrumetina, Hadrumetum
Punic simplicity, Roman splendor
The Song of a city softly hummed
On a lyre struck by an immortal composer
This city lives in a poetic peace
A harmony I hope will never cease
