Ahhhhh....so question of my ticket has been solved. and i didn't have to bite the bullet and pay full price either, so yay! the universe was generous as always. getting really excited to be covered in white dust, and to forget about work, school, and other mundane things for ten days. i've been sewing up a storm, and i'll definitely post fun costume pictures in the near future.
In the meantime, here are some pictures of my belly dance troupe back stage at this DIY festival we performed at:

my man built this rocket ship for the venue's opening this past march:

i was thinking it might be kinda fun for a set prop.
otherwise i've been going through this weird uber domestic phase. very unlike me. it's probably just me adjusting to future wife-y-ness, but still...at least the pie i baked last night was 100% organic, wheat and sugar free, vegan, and full of a certain (*hem) leafy green that i'm quite partial to.
i've been slowly eliminating wheat and sugar from my diet. i think i'm allergic to them anyway. it's definitely a challange though. especially when you work in a kitchen and the girl across the table from you is baking vegan snikerdoodles and the like.
i've also been playing with raw food preparation a lot lately, and have really been loving it. i made raw veggie sushi and miso soup last week, and it turned out awesome! lots of sea vegetables, and blue green algae. yum. tonight we're having raw raviolis. the "pasta" is made from thinly sliced turnips, and the filling is pine nuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and parsley. topped with a sun dried tomato marinara. i sound like i'm writting a menu, but i'm really excited to eat them!
i also made this raw soup that i'm jokingly calling RAWsta soup, cause of the colors. you'll see:

if anyone wants the recipie i'll be happy to post it!
so that's about all really. i'll do my best to give a fare-well pre playa post. until then.
love and kisses,
byrd
