It's official: Mungus is partnering with Tinderbox Music in order to reach a broader listening audience. According to their website,
Tinderbox is a music promotions and distribution company. We work with unsigned, indie label, and major label artists across the country by obtaining press and radio airplay in appropriate markets and formats. We specialize in college radio and the artists that fit the CMJ (College Music Journal) and secondary FM and community formats. We also provide local and national distribution for artists as well as publishing and music licensing opportunities.
In talking to both the Jon (owner of the company and the man in charge of aforementioned licensing opportunities) and to Brandon (the man in charge of radio promotion) I believe we're really going to be able to move Mungus forward in ways we've never done before.
The basic principle is this: a single unsigned band is far less likely to get a radio station to pay any attention to them (especially if that band is from several states away) than a single unsigned band with a known promotion house behind them. And once our foot is in the door, once a city or a market has heard our singles in regular rotation, when we come to that area we can let the station know in advance, stop in for interviews and advertising and even in-studio performances. (This isn't even touching on how much easier it will be to get a gig in a new city when they, you know, know who we are.)
We still have a long way to go and this is but a step on that path, but what a step it is!
To celebrate we'll be giving away two more copies of the album tonight at 10pm EST. Watch your preferred area for notification!*1
