Discipline
I decided, after having so much fun chronicling my loss of electricity and ensuing freezing and encounters with the locals, to write a daily blog Monday through Friday. Today's blog was to be the wrap-up of the whole adventure, so of course I sat and watched the three most recent episodes of "House". I also played around with iLife 2009's new iPhoto iPheatures and deleted several gigs of pics cluttering up my hard drive.
The blog you get today is a confessional and apology-lite. I intend to get better about this and devote real time to it. Today simply wasn't that day. Last night Stephen and Adam, my band's guitarist and singer respectively, along with Adam's girlfriend spent the night because they still didn't have power back. We sat up and watched the Super Bowl (my first) followed by A Very Special Episode of "The Office". Amy left at an ungodly hour this morning to drive two hours back to Cincinnati after not sleeping for more than a few minutes when we first went to bed the night before. It was a hard morning. I'll write more about her work and our living situation another time, but suffice it to say it bites the big donkey dick and it's getting harder to suffer.
I got up around 9:30 this morning and got ready for the gym, something else I'll be writing more about. I got back home about 2pm and only Adam was still around, playing Gears of War 2. We played co-op before downloading and exploring a zombified and racially suspect "Resident Evil 5" demo. (By throwing some non-Africans into the game's zombie population, developers hope to avoid too much controversy, but the demo dredges up some terrible othering visuals.) Garbage plot contrivances and poor writing aside, the controls are awkward but the shotgun is effective.
I installed iLife and iWork 2009 and fiddled with them for a while, ate dinner, then watched all those episodes of "House" rather than work on my intended blog. Those of you who care will get to hear about the hotel (mis)adventure tomorrow.
Probably.
