So much good stuff has gone down in the last 3 or 4 days that I don't know where to start. IF you hang with me here regularly then you know I have had some emotional days recently. Well, I took Thursday and Friday off and went to Tibee Island. Its a small beach just outside of Savahnna. It was a totally spontanious overnight trip having left around 11 on Thursday and getting back 3ish on Friday. We spent the afternoon sunning and swinmming. I took beachy pictures and chilled. It felt good to break out of my rut.
In the Jeep on our way to dinner that night I saw the brightest shooting star! It was crazy bright. Remarkably so. I thought it was a roman candle at first. It streaked for so long as it got brighter that for just a second....I thought it was a rocket or something. We all saw it and agreed we'd never seen one like it before. I made a wish as I thought to myself that I never make wishes on falling stars, but this was just sow memorable.
We got back (4 hours in the heat in the jeep will take it out of you) and I had to pick up the pieces of planning my friend Jills B day dinner for that night. The peeps left to finish what I'd started (with directions on what needed to be done) had accomplished nothing while i was at the beach, including invite the other people that needed to be there. It caused some stress and such, with finger pointing and Jill over reacting (not to or at me thankfully. I wasn't my turn). Thakfully, in a refreshingly unusual turn of events, things chilled out and we had a kick ass meal at THE REAL CHOW BABY. (I recomended it to you)
At dinner I was talking about the shooting star. Jill asked me what time I saw it at. When I told her 9:30 and her eyes lit up, I realized that she too had been near Savanah at the same time. Turns out shed seen it too and was just as taken by it! (Fyi non Atlantans. This all went on 4 hours from where I live. Jill and I live 15 minutes from each other, and it was totally random that we were both at the beach at the same time.) How doubly odd that one of my best friends would see this...so far from home.
I spent Saturday morning at my coffee shop and then more or less rehersing with my sister at home that afternoon. We are singing at my Dads wedding at the end of the month. That night I went to my friend Heathers house to celabrate her birthday with friends and family. I was the last to leave...and we sat out of the porch wiith wine and listend to the trains blow there horns, and waxed cosmic (the star again) about how little and insignifigant we are in the scope of things. I hadn't connected with her in so long.
I got to bed late, but got up early on Sunday. Patick and I went Kayaking. Its actually called a "sit on top" as opposed to a kayak. A beginners kind of thing. FOr 25 bucks you get the "sit on top", helmet, paddle, and a ride back once you are at the end. We ended up Cruising with this guy and his 15 yo kid. The guy was a HUGE help. He taught us how to ride and paddle. Showed us how to ride the eddies and how to scout the rapids. IN the end he was just a really helpful fellow outdoors man...but I have to share my little subplot aboutthem.
The kid wasn't talking much. Seemed a little stand offish but whatever. We went a certain ways, learning and cruising along, and I had kind of paired off with the kid for a bit. He kept telling me things ...and I coudl tell he was trying to offer tips by the tone of his voice, but I couldf nver quite hear waht he was saying. We stopped for alittle break on the side of the river and I saw they had a joint in one of their bags. THis is where things got wierd...whos seen DELIVERANCE? Well I saw it just 10 days or so ago. THis is my refrence point for the story.
IT becomes to be that we are gonna share the joint. I thought it was odd that this guy was getting high with his 15 year old son. The the kid spoke for the first time when not in the rapids. OH my GOD...he had such a southern drawl that I could hardly understand a word. I instantly thought of the opening sceens of The Deliverance. It wasn't the whiite noise of the river that had kept me from hearing his tips. I just coouldn't understand..the...words..coming..from..his mouth. Patrick and I both shared a look recognizing the bizzare instance, but just carried on like it was nothing. Then the guy pulls out his cell phone and said he was calling a friend that was gonna meet up with him/us dcown the river. I was uneasy. Nothing came of it of course, except the story its self. They were just country people that loved to ride the river.
I'm a little little worn but psyched about our next adventure up there. Getting down with mother nature like I have the last few days, and being humbled by the river a few times (I understand that some of our rapids were concidered 2-3's if you can talk that talk), I am much more back to center now. My bearings and sense of well being are in tact. Ive had mucho Friend time with 2 birthdays, 2 trips to the water, one shooting star.
I still have some challenges ahead to handle, but its easier when you have your feet on the ground.
(edited: I laid down to take a nap after i worte that and it turned into an 11 hour nights sleep)

That sounds so FUN! I haven't gone out or seen a show in forever.
Or I would. I've never been to Atlanta.
