Oct 27th NIN/QOTSA show:
Before I begin I have to tell you, that I was there to see QOTSA. To get to see NIN was a pleasent bonus, even though NIN was the headliner. I bought these tickets 2 1/2 months ago, which is a tad annoying really. what are you gonna do?
We heard there was another band added on and the show was at 8. We walked in a few minutes after 8 and QOTSA started playing while buying my first beer. FUCK FUCK FUCK! Got to out seats and settled in. The sound started off awful. I had feared this would take away form the prefect record Queens had set thus far (4 previous shows all amazing), and it was happening. The sound guy pulled it together though and by song 4 things were...acceptable.
Mark (of the Screaming Tree's) was not on board, which was disappointing has he brings alot to the table. They played alot of what I guess is new material. Pleasently..it rocked.
NIN had a much better sound system. Any of you that are either musicians or serious concert goers know that the opening act rarely gets the same access to the towers walls of sound as the main act. Fucking rock Ego's you know??
Wow..Trent as his rolling circus theater thing. Its alot. Lots of visuals, lights, big bad ass sounds and effects. Then I goboard half way thru and left. He makes amazing CD's/albums. He is a Genre defining musician. Everything that is anything that is goth is assumed to be compared to him. Still..that whole digital metronome bored me.
If Queens had been given the sound system that NIN's had, then NIN would have looked like Chumps.
sorry Trent...calling it like i see it
