yay @bloghomework time!! this is a great topic too! Thanks @missy @lyxzen @charmaine
I had dreamed about my first tattoo since I was 14 years old! I always knew I wanted cherry tattoos on my hips.
I had starting this desire around the same time I was figuring out my sexuality and getting into the 1950's retro rockabilly style and I loved cherry patterns! their location on my hips, kinda right over my ovaries was unintentionally sexual! but looking back fits so well into my life and what I was going through at the time of really wanting them..
I didn't however get them for another 5 years! when I was 19 years old.
I had been to the Tattoo Expo here in Sydney every year since it started and I remember the second one Sabina Kelly was there and she was getting tattooed by Mimsey Gleeson of Trailer Trash Tattoos. I met both of these fabulous women this year and watched as Mimsey did the matching foot tattoos of Sabina Kelly and just loved her style!
I still thought about it for a long time after meeting them.. I was nervous and scared! I first of started by emailing them in like December asking if they had spots fro the next Tattoo Expo. They didn't. I was crushed! I booked one for 6 months later at her studio in Brisbane. This gave me plenty of time to freak out!
I bought flights and my best friend decided to come with me! We got driven to the airport in the morning at like 4 am to get a flight to Brisbane. Then we got a train, and a bus and did some walking to find our way to her home studio!
And she was so lovely! she made me feel really comfortable and ease with getting my first tattoo. she gave me heart shaped lollipops and went slow for me in till I got used to the feeling of being tattooed. I also fell in love with tattoos in this time!
I think we spent most of the time trying to line the cherries up. It's continued to be my problem having scoliosis makes pairs of tattoos hard to line up on me.
Safe to say though I was clueless at tattoo after care.. and was distraught when I found cherry prints on my bed sheets! I was using way too much cream on them and ended up loosing a scab before I should off and have this crack of red missing form the left cherry.. I've never bothered to get it touched up though. I learnt a lot about that first tattoo and I always take a stash of lollipops with me to keep my sugar up through getting tattooed.
it was another walk, bus, train, plane and another train ride home I was exhausted! and I skipped a day of uni to do it. But it was a great first tattoo experience! I almost forget they are there most of the time and I wear a lot of high waisted stuff which makes sense... when I wear low riding jeans it just looks like Im' growing little plants out of my pants haha
That's basically it! My tattoo story is a lot longer now but this is one of my most special ones and my first!
Hope you enjoyed! =D
