I had a pretty awesome sauce weekend that I've been dying to share with you!! no @bloghomework for me right now as I just have to share this with you guys!
Now I've been pretty stressed and working hard these past months on a special project of mine Retro EqualityRetro Equality I even wrote a long insightful blog on the project here on SG a few months ago too >>> Here
So hopefully your all caught up now on the happenings of my project! in a nuteshell, pinup girls for gay rights and equality!
Lets start my story off at the start of last week before my amazing weekend started!
So last week I also had a horrible time at work. in fact the last couple months have been horrible and 2 girls quit due to matters involving someone in management. Now I had held my tongue and sucked up everything that was going on as none of it was pointed at me.. in till last Monday. Where this person, felt the need to make me very upset and angry by telling me things I didn't need to know.. Why she did it I don't know. I think she was trying to win me over and turn me against people by telling me these things but ultimately it really upset me and was the last straw. I waited in till Wednesday as I knew I had a a whole weekend off and would never have to see her to call the Regional manager and complain. With the idea I was quitting or transferring stores.
I've never been in this situation work wise before but my job (as much as I don't love it) handled this really well and got me an immediate transfer to a different store. Yes my hours may be slightly less, its a little longer on the bus and the days are longer but I feel much happier and I am no longer anxious to be at work!
So with all this in mind I was feeling pretty mentally battered and I had this amazing photo shoot booked Last Friday that I was excited for but was also feeling just exhausted. I barely slept the night before!
SO my shoot was with Sherbet Birdie Pinup Photography I had won a shoot with them for winning Miss Pinup Doll Australia last year! we had chatted earlier in the week about what to shoot but I wasnt really feeling it as I walked to their studio with my hair freshly washed, not styled with no makeup on. I walked into their studio which was the most amazing space I have ever seen! costumes and amazing props everywhere!!
They sat me down we chatted, I got nakie and put on a robe, they did my hair and makeup for me while I sipped tea and ate macaroons. I love having someone else do my makeup ! Lucy Tropp Makeup was fantastic!!
My first shot I was in this amazing pink french lingerie set and we did some cute portrait photos with tulle and lighting. I dont have this image back yet! Then I had brought a real fur from the 50'sthat my grandma had given me and I wanted to shoot with it. She got me into this nude body suit covered in like 100 Swarovski crystals!! I can't even describe it but we coined it a new style called #ghettopinup
Im also waiting for another image from this outfit and another from one where I got to site on a functional wooden garden swing that had flowers all down the ropes! it was beautiful!!
SO this all really picked my spirits up as we talked I got really emotional as I felt like I hadn't done anything for JUST ME in so long. I had put all my sweat, tears and energy into Retro Equality and was spent. I really needed this day.
Then came Saturday! I was up early to do my hair and makeup before my friend Jewel came over so I could set her hair in curls. We packed all these dresses, petticoats, makeup, accessories, mirrors and shoes into the car beore having a quick lunch and heading to our hotel in the city. where I got set up to do 3 more girls hair and makeup! I really discovered a love for Hair and Makeup that day! It's something I feel I might want to get into this year! =D
I was really impressed with myself with Jewel whole look ^^ I organised that dress for her, and did her hair and makeup. her hair is down to her ass and is usually tight ringlets. it had to be straightened the day before to achieve this and Im super chuffed!!
My partner took this sneaky shot! and we invested in a selfie stick to take a photo once all the girls arrived and ready to go!
Now for those who don't know Mardi Gras in Sydney is a massive gay pride parade!! It's really fantastic!! this was the first year I was in it or really got to see it! I took my project to Mardi gras with a small walking group of about 20 girls! all pinups all wanting equal rights for the LGBT community!! =D Im still so overwhelmed by the whole thing!! I really cant describe the feeling of walking through the parade. I almost cried!! it was nut! we did so much walking! the girls were amazing! and just yeahhh amazing ^_^
You can see more photos from our photographers page Siobhon Ford Design - Mardi Gras Retro Equality Photos
THEN I went to the Girlthing After Party in a complete latex outfit by Citizen Reign!! I danced the night away with hot babes! got heaps of photos and videos taken which i can't wait to show you guys!!
This was seriously one of the best Weekends of my life.. like nothing will compare. except maybe my wedding! I also feel like I can finally breath! The only thing left for Retro Equality right now is the Sydney Rock n Roll Markets this Sunday! 15th, Where I have a joint stall with Daisy Jean Hair Flowers and accessories! its really exciting!! I'm excited and happy!
None of this could of happened without my amazing fiancee. I am seriously the luckiest girl in the world! she has been my rock through all this stressful stuff! I wouldnt of gotten the project to where it is today without here. I am truely blessed!
Hope you had a fun read! Really the photos tell it all so I'll leave it here with a couple more photos of me and my partner celebrating love at mardi Gras!
