Click hereSo I was tagged by the gorgeous @nevergoodbye asking what my favorite thing about the holidays is....which is great because I have been thinking about what else to write a blog about recently! Thanks @nevergoodbye for tagging me!
Well let's see....first I have to say....vacation! I work a lot during the late spring and early summer and having holidays off during the summer is basically something that doesn't happen (I work Memorial Day weekend, July 4th weekend and Labor Day weekend every year....it's to the point where I also work Father's Day weekend as that is now considered a holiday weekend at my job). During this time of year, things are a lot slower and I have a lot of leave built up from the summer. If I don't use it, I lose it. This is the time of year I get a much needed break and even though I mostly stay home, it gives me a chance to relax in my own house and get things done that I have wanted to get done for a long time (though I usually just catch up on sleep! Lol).
I'm not much into traditional Christmas music.....I like some classic songs but hearing them over and over.....I get a little tired of them (though one never tires of the Chipmunks song and Alvin wanting his hula hoop). My Christmas songs I look forward to are from Ren and Stimpy's Crock o Christmas and the Cryptkeeper's Christmas.
Check out one of my favorite songs from each (and yes I pretty well know the lyrics to all the songs...at least to Ren and Stimpy hahah). NOTE!! For some reason the video won't embed so please Click here to listen
Here is one from the Cryptkeeper album.... This one won't embed either!! So please Click here to listen
I have had these albums for a long time and they are a tradition for me and my family to listen to every year.
I also look forward to my holiday movies. I usually start off with National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and then Pee-Wee's playhouse Christmas special
And of course, Christmas eve and day isn't complete without 24 hours of a Christmas Story!
Most of all, I look forward to seeing my son unwrap his gifts and his facial expressions when he opens that gift he wanted the most. I love giving gifts to people and seeing their faces when they open their presents. That is what I love the most about the holidays. I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas and here is to the new year!
