This picture was actually taken back in August at a party in protest of Burning Man. The party was titled Freezing Lady. I had attended Rock Horror Picture Show the previous night and scored a very large Queen of Clubs. I brought it to the party as a sort of ice breaker. Approaching new people and asking them:
Is this your card?
Most of them responding in the negative, I usually followed with:
Are you sure? Because I found this out front on the way in and I thought maybe you had dropped it..
It amused some.
What the little exercise did though was encourage me to actually go learn some card tricks. I mean, I owned the tuxedo. So when I whipped out a deck at a party in L.A. there seemed to be a collective sigh stating that it was about time. I performed a few quick tricks (Note: Tricks that I remember and tricks that I remember inebriated are not the same tricks) and I got the impression it was well received. Since returning home, I've continued my studies, dedicating more time to the craft. I'm really enjoying the activity.
I've claimed it as a New Year's Resolution of sorts.
If you see me out and about, ask me for a trick. That way I can humbly refuse and then give in when you start begging. Card tricks are best when performed for those that beg.
