The Bad Luck Below
I saw a woman at the corner
of Heartache and Despair
Her legs took my heart
away
Her lips whispered my name
and I followed her
Down the block
an old man was selling
"broken promises"
when I got there he said
he was fresh out
said he just sold the last one
and he couldn't find
anyone who use the word
Love
anymore
I quickened my pace
following the woman
who had so uncermoniously
stolen my heart
She led me up an old
wooden staircase,
full of holes and sure to give way
at every step,
at the back of a sorry
decrepit building
When she reached the top of the building
she jumped
I followed of course
and hit hard
on the bad luck below
My voice was gone, my head
a wreck, my arms and legs
battered and weary
The woman was unharmed, only,
she had dropped my heart
Shriveled and dried up
I saw her kick it into a corner
where it lay
lifeless and ugly
while she walked away
pretty as a sunbeam.

I haven't seen 21 grams but I've heard good things. Hopefully I'll catch it soon...
