So I ended up missing BurningMan this year, but I watched the burn on the live webcam they had; which is a little like watching your lover masturbate on video...nice and all, but youd much rather just be there :-)
I was all packed, cooler full of food, even tuned up the wolfscoot...but in the end, it was just not meant to be. Left me depressed as hell for a couple of days, but I am awaiting a full report from my friend who did make it...which should cheer me up a bit. Next year...come hell or high water.
So, I also ordered a textbook on Molecular Biology today. That has cheered me up reasonably well. It will likely take forever to get here, though. I cant afford the time to take the class right now...but I can read the book. I learn well enough from books anyway. Never attended classes for my multitude of ridiculous computer certs. Just read the books, and took the tests. Tests a test I figure :-) If you can pass, you know it well enough :-) Its all just about the letters at the end of your name anyway.
When I started taking the comp cert tests, a friend and co-geek said he would never bother with them because they ...dont mean anything but to look good on your resume... To which I baffled him with my response of, Exactly :-D
Of course, I still owe Monastrell the other half of the read of A Peoples History..., but health issues have taken the forefront; and like all good health advocates...first you educate yourself to level of your doctors...and then you use them finish the healing process.
But in fairness to Monastrell, he has made his point. Although, I still find value in the book...when viewed from a more pulled back perspective, you can clearly see Zinns agenda...which I agree is a death sentence for any society (theres no ism like capitalism...It has its bugs, but its better than any of the alternatives presented throughout history. :-)
I am considering pursuing an associates degree in Biology. I could probably finish one up with a dozen credits in my spare time...assuming all my old credits from the botched college years transfer (majored in Dorm life.) Although I might spend the money to pursue some more film classes. Cant really decide. The AA in Biology would add credibility, should I start actively functioning as a health advocate...especially when you start arguing with Docs. But film has always been the first love.
Selflessness or self...to be or not to be.
OK...now, I m really tired.
Night all :-)

Sorry, but my smile is an endangered species and is very timid.
