So...had surgery on the inner ear last Wednesday. Went surprisingly well...although I have franken-ear right now with all the stitches and swelling. Outlook: optimistic. It has already improved the symptoms caused by the initial problem, and it has only been two days. Looks like I will be getting my life back after all...except for probably SCUBA. No diving anytime soon...maybe ever. Have to see. Can still be a pilot though...and still do sports and
motorcycles, if things keep healing as they are. Nice.
So now me and Mr. Vicodin and having a splendid time hanging out on paid medical leave and reading Molecular Biology books. And, BTW, on a molecular level, we are frickin AMAZING! Un-fucking-believable. If you want proof of God...read about the 10 bazillion little enzymatic reactions that happen every second in every cell in your body in exactly the right order at the right time.
We really are nothing more than compilations of extremely complicated nano-machines...working together to create this large chunk of automation called a human being. It blows the mind. I just got done reading about protein folding, ligand site binding and enzymes. Now I am reading the details about genetics and chromosomes. There is no doubt (in my opinion), that in the next 200 years, we will be able to manipulate or cure nearly everything by use of genetic treatment and direct protein influence. Invest in that biotech company now :-)
So...off to lie in the sun for a while. God bless paid medical leave :-)
