we watched the corporation last night. sooo good. i highly recommend it. pretty well proves that corporations are... unspeakably crazy.
it talked some about sweatshops and what not... one thing that i always remember when that comes up is a story that my friend from malaysia told me once. someone (or a few) in his family work over there at a factory for some company. they don't get paid anywhere near our wages, but what they make is wage enough for them. our idea of a liveable wage is completely different than in many countries. in a lot of places, people don't have or need flat screen tvs or sports cars or whatever else. that is absolutely not to say that ten cents is acceptable or that the factories overseas are all really okay because they are certainly not. sweatshops are real. people in many places still aren't paid a fair wage and work in horrible conditions. i just think the point still needs to be made that there are differences that need to be accounted for in SOME instances.
anyway. other things... dropped $100 on the pussface today. major fleas around his neck lead to a lot of scratching and scabbing and infection. it took barely a week for it to be bad, too.
so he's been treated and is on antibiotics for the infected skin. i'm waiting and watching to make sure the other two cats don't have similar problems. i have extra flea treatment from the vet and some natural flea killing products i'm going to use, so hopefully things will be okey dokey for them. i hate seeing my pussies uncomfortable like that.
not much else aside from work and work and work. went to punk rock karaoke on monday and got to see some of my favorite people, including my piercer. i love drunk adrian!
i also hit up my tattoo artist about my sleeve. we set a date for the outline, which isn't looking like a good idea right now. i wasn't planning to spend that money at the vet and with bills still needing to be paid, i have a feeling my bonus check for last month that i'll get on friday is going to be spent making up for some stuff. plus, i haven't actually seen the art yet. he was supposed to bring it in, but forgot. i'll hopefully get to see it next week. i'm a little worried about it, but... we'll see what happens.
Boy from last weekend has yet to call. called him on sunday to see if he wanted to hang out. nothing. drunk dialed on monday night, but didn't leave a message. finally, i called him last night before heading to erin's to watch the movie just to see if he wanted to hang out with everyone (he's from my hometown and he knows most/all of the kids i hang out with from there), but again, nothing. i said on the last message that if he was being weird, he needed to fucking stop. he's usually so direct about things, that this is starting to surprise me. i still have no idea what's going on or what anything was... erin keeps saying not worry and just not think about it, but... dude. i really like him. i'm not so invested that it's a Big Deal, but i'd like to know where we stand and i'd like to hang out. goodness. this all just seems silly and awkward and i hate it.
okay. now that i have bitched here and LJ, i'm going to go read. in my chuck palahniuk marathon, i am now on _lullaby_. _choke_ was good, but i think _survivor_ or _invisible monsters_ would be my favorite. i spent part of today at barnes and noble reading some of the stories from the new one, _haunted_. go read guts and be disgusted. it's the one he did readings of and people would pass out or vomit. it's awesome and fucked up, as are the other stories in the book i read today. he amazes me every time.
other things i have been liking lately: the new coheed and cambria (someone with an active OSU ID needs to score me a ticket because i can't. i tried.), boys night out, and emery. such good new stuff coming out.
