so here's what you don't do: you don't fuck with my friends. in any way, shape, or form. especially boys that i've known since FOREVER ago and are totally some of the best human beings alive.
my best friend officially moved here today, drove all the way from chiicago, and as soon as she got here, we left for mansfield. it was about an hour away, i guess. nothing big. it's totally a blip on the map as far as i'm concerned, and the bar that the madison voice was playing at with six other bands was in the middle of BFE.
so we got there at about 11:30 or so... probably a little after. the band was supposed to go on at 12:45. we drank. we chatted. we waited. the guys went on, were rocking out, etc. well, they were RUDELY cut off by the DJ that the bar was so insistent had to go on at 1am. he seriously started playing in the middle of one of their songs and after it was over, they were forced to end their set.
well, blah blah blah. the bands were supposed to start at 8, blah blah blah. i don't fucking care. i paid a cover. i drove an hour. erin drove a total of 7 hours. we paid for how much booze? how many people were there and paying attention to the madison voice compared to the SIX other bands that were playing? (and don't get me started on the people dancing when the DJ started playing.)
first of all, when you have bands play, there is absolutely no guarantee what time they will start and stop. there just isn't. even at bigger shows in bigger venues. i mean, you can try to keep it to a strict schedule, but good luck. second of all, it is no one's fault but the organizers that they bands didn't start until 9:30 instead of 8:00. it is not the boys' fault, it is not the customers' fault. it is no one's fault but the people who put it together and the bar. end of story.
as a PAYING CUSTOMER, i complained. and i was treated like shit. okay. i'm not a fucking blonde-ass bimbo who shows her tits and came to your bar to dance around to bad rap. but i am a PAYING CUSTOMER nevertheless. also: you shit on my friends. this is unacceptable.
before i continue drawing this story out...
i got the cover back for myself and the three that rode with me. i was then rudely asked to leave ("you're right i'm fucking leaving!"). we started fighting with what turned out to be the promotional manager for the bar or whatever. eventually, she listened to what we had to say, that we were treated like crap, that we'd driven a long way, that we'd brought business in. basically: you are the most fucking unprofessional people i have ever seen in my several years of attending local band shows. she apologized, like fifty thousand times after that. she took danny's number and promised to call within the week to book them again.
end of story.
if i had been slightly more drunk or if the woman had been slightly less understanding, it would have been ON. the group that we had was not beyond making a complete scene and making things not so wonderful for the other patrons. we are drunk assholes.
and that, my friends, was my evening. now i have a headache and i have to work in 9 hours.
