Ive had a lot of strange jobs over the years; Web designer (my only real client was a cemetery), I ran the Community & Culture section at an Indigo Bookstore, I even had a brief stint as a hair stylist at the Hair Design Center (I quit hair school, thus ending my stylist gig). I went on the run a porn shop and after a few years of that I decided it was time to see more of the world and moved to Montreal.
Montreal brought on some new challenges for me, finding a job here proved to be easy enough but it certainly didnt bring any normalcy to my working environment. I landed my first job here within 3 days of arriving, I went to visit the head office of the porn store I used to work for and was offered a starting position in the distribution center attached to the building.
I was fairly happy that I had found work so quickly but I really wasnt ready for the sheer absurdity of working in a warehouse of sex toys. The warehouse was huge, picture 20 foot high racks filled with every type of sex toy known to man in a room roughly the size of a hockey rink. There is something so very unsettling about scaling a 20 foot wall of blow-up dolls like a monkey as the cold dead eyes of a hundred dolls named Cleopatra stare back at you
As you can see.. It was a weird place to be.. I only lasted a few months at that shipping center, I was laid off the day before new years, they had lost a lot of business that year and wanted to trim the staff to help offset their loses. Truthfully, I was more than o.k with it.
After that I landed my current job, I work for a local French music company as a web enrichment specialist (fancy way of saying I maintain the visual content for their web page). The weird thing is, I find this job stranger than all of my past jobs combined.. Maybe I just dont know what normal is anymore.
Next time I'll write another Confessions of a former pornstore clerk

Thanks for the kind words on my blog - I'm doing my best to stay positive I also haven't read anything about the procedure since I wrote that entry
I should be certified in about 2 months lol and I'm really finding it difficult to even go to school some nights. I love being a stylist but right now school just... isnt happening. So you learned how to do everything? Could you still do it if someone asked you to?
