My belief is that elitism is too intertwined with the human condition to truly separate it. It is elitism that separates us from any other animal, gives us the power to control what is fundamentally a shared planet, and ultimately give us the power to destroy any other being. Since we have wiped out entire lifeforms and made areas of our own planet uninhabitable we have resorted to using this skill against ourselves.
We are all guilty of at some point causing suffering. Of judging another who is suffering. Sometimes even taking some black inner joy at what is happening.
It is merely part and parcel of who we are.
