So I finally did it. I opened my own business. I'm working in and based in Prague doing Proofreading and editing for translation companies and websites. First couple of weeks went well, had a load of work to do and a major client (for me anyway) put me through to one of his coworkers in Scandinavia which was great. But since last week work seems to have dried up or disappeared. I'm trying to do more networking in the city but it's hard to get out and about without spending money, which is the hardest thing I guess.
Right now I've had to look for other work whilst still advertising my own business. Fingers crossed I can grab some English teaching job or something. Not my first choice but I've done it before, so most places like people with experience.
On the other hand, holy shit! I've actually done something for ME for once, I'm doing something which I really enjoy and love to do. Not only that, but it wasn't because someone else asked me to try it, or told me to go in that direction. It's something I've picked up on my own volition. Which for me is a major thing.
The only down side is that I'm working form my flat, so getting out and about and making sure I'm keeping healthy is the biggest struggle. The networking has helped that, and seeing the few friends I've made in the city has definitely helped. The weathers been against me for that too. We've just finished a major heat wave. Had the hottest days EVER in recorded history for Prague. Last Friday the only hotter major city Was Cairo in Egypt, and that was only by 1.5 degrees.
I am so investing in A/C when I earn some decent money.
