Memory is a really weird thing. I had a flash back to when I was a kid the other day. We used to live in Paris, and at the end of the road was this family run Italian restaurant; every other week my family would go there. My sister would order a margarita pizza, my dad would get a calzone (with an e.g. in it, apparently it's not complete without this), and I can never remember what my mum would get. I'd get with Spaghetti bolognese, or carbonara.
the thing is, I can ever remember exactly what the place looked like, what colour the walls were and where we sat (we had our own table we went so often). The whole family were great. I guess one of the reasons I remember it so well was because it was where I first really have a memory of being taught something, The owner taught me how to wrap the spaghetti around my fork using a spoon. I remember all this vividly. none of this so far is very strange, I'll give you that, everyone has vivd memories. what makes this so strange to me is that fact that I can't remember what i had to eat 3 days ago, I can probably remember about a half dozen or so meals that I have had to that detail, and none were in the last 3 years.
now, to be fair, my memory is terrible anyway, it's just I have these very fixed points in my mind and i can recall exact details from them. But not from my shift of work that I got home from an hour ago.
Is this weird, or am I not the only one?
Maybe I'll write about a few of my other memories one day.
