I can't sleep.
Being a Federal Stooge has it's benefits. For one, I can get into areas that the public cannot. One such place I went into was a small dam in the Cascade foothills. This dam holds a lake that supplies water to Seattle. Because of this, the area was declared off limits after 9/11. On our way to the dam, we had drive on a one-lane, gravel road for over 10 miles, and half of that went through a dense and dark forest.
When we got to the dam, I was expecting it to be a small version of the big concrete monsters. But it looked like something an army of beavers put together, with huge chunks of concrete and rock mixed in.
But the view of the lake was absolutely beautiful. Thick, green coniferous trees ringed around the lake and continued into the foothills. Even though the low stratus clouds blocked the view uplake, it had a nice effect on the foothills behind it.
The area would be a recreational paradise. There are trails and roads all around the area. The lake has a few spots where boats can be launched from and I'm sure the fishing would be great. Too bad the public can't use this area. Not too far from the lake, they have already cut down parts of the forest and a few of the big hills are nearly cut of trees. I hope they stay out of this area and leave it be.
I can't get the pics to show up here, so check them out in the Off Limits folder. Curse my neanderthal brain that can't get this shit to work...Buaku smash world behind screen!

latchbeam:
Those Off Limits pictures are awesome! You are right, the dam is kind of weak looking.
