It's been rather hectic for me lately. My friend Ryan and his girlfriend Anna just bought a photography business from Anna's former boss, Dan. They mostly do weddings, and Anna is a REALLY good photographer...but so is Dan. And Dan is sticking around to help them get on their feet and to help shoot weddings if he's needed. Since my thesis work was on hold until my primers came in, I was helping them renovate the studio. We put up a wall and I helped them paint it afterwords...they didn't realize how much of a handyman I was.
Here's Anna and the backside of the new wall.
The lovely stripes I painted inside the reception area.
I also offered to help them set up their booth at a bridal show in Davenport, IA. I grew up there so I knew my way around town so they weren't struggling to find the place and their hotel. Anna is a tiny little thing as well, and Ryan didn't mind the help loading and unloading the stuff. They have a pretty sweet setup...but with all the rusted metal it's just tetanus waiting to happen. I'll give it to them that it's very unique and helps them bring in clients.
The booth! (Looks stupid with the white and blue behind it...but trust me...it's awesome looking).
We went and got some AMAZING sushi after the setup. Ryan and Anna went to bed after dinner, so I went to go see Gran Torino while waiting for my buddy Brad to get out of his stupid country concert. It was really good...classic Clint Eastwood. I also ended up going to see Underworld 3 the next day before helping Anna and Ryan load up again. I would have to say it's my favorite of the three.
And if all the building and painting weren't enough...I ended up driving a total of 8 hours today to go pick up furniture for them. They wanted some items from IKEA up near Chicago, but didn't want to pay the $450 to ship it. And since I wasn't doing anything today, I offered to go get it. I know...I'm such a nice guy.
But my primers have FINALLY come in, so I get to go back to work on my thesis project. Hopefully these work...I'll be fucking pissed if they don't. I hate to say it, but I highly doubt I'm going to graduate in May. I'm not sure if I would stick around for another semester to finish...or go get a job and try to work and finish my thesis. Something I'll have to think about.
