Well, I got a request to update about my trip to Iceland and it made me realize that I neglected that part of the post-trip responsibility. The trip was AMAZING! Of course, being my first trip out of the country I expected it to be a bit of a mind bender, but I really had a blast.
My first impression of the country once we landed around 4 a.m. their time was that I landed in an IKEA. Literally, the airport and the hotel both look furnished by IKEA. It was kind of funny to come home and actually go to IKEA and see many of the same items I spent staring at for several days.
The Blue Lagoon was not as fantastic as I was hoping. This was the only disappointing part of the trip. The look to the lagoon was gorgeous, but the temperature was around 30 degrees and the wind was blowing wicked hard. My scalp actually hurt due to the wind sheer. It took a while to find a spot in the lagoon that was sufficently hot and blocked the wind so I could be comfortable.
My absolute favorite part of the trip was Gulfoss Falls. Being from Maryland, I've never seen much in the way of waterfalls and seeing the majesty and hearing the sound of something so large was amazing.
The geyser was pretty cool as well. I was able to snap some pictures of it erupting, but you'd have to have professional equipment to really get the entire event.
Here's some photos from my trip.

The beginning of an eruption
This is where the North American and European tectonic plates collide. I'm straddling two continents. Aren't I cool?
