So I'm wondering if the concept of customer service has wafted over to Philadelphia, PA yet. I say this because last night between games I went across the parking lot to a TGIFriday's for dinner. The host sat me and there I sat. For 10 minutes without anyone coming over to greet me, ask what I'd like to drink or simply to tell me someone would be with me. I did watch as a waitress walked over to another table right beside me and start chatting away with the customers whom she apparently knew. At first I was going to go sit and the bar and then I thought, "why the fuck am I going to give these people my money?" So I left. I walked right past the host and six waitresses who were just standing there talking.
So I went over to Houlihan's across the street and sat at the bar. By this time I had to scarf food down to get back to the basketball tournament in time for the first game. It took four minutes for the bartender to speak to me and when I had my money out and ready to give to him at the end he looked at me and then looked away and greeted another customer who sat down right beside me. It took him another five minutes to get back to me to take my money. I desperately did not want to leave him a tip, but the difference was six bucks and he only gave me a five and a one. Call it my roommate bartends so I left him a five dollar tip on a 9 dollar tab with shitty service.
If that wasn't enough, this morning when I went down to the hotel lobby for breakfast I was seated. I decided to get the buffet since I didn't want to wait for service. Well, I did want an orange juice which they don't provide at the buffet. The hostess came by and asked if I wanted an OJ. I said yes. I watched her walk over to a waitress and tell her.
Five minutes later another waitress comes over and ask if I want anything to drink. I tell her an OJ. She walks off. Meanwhile the table to my left and right both ordered OJ after me and both had gotten their. In fact, the table to my right got two before I got one. So I wait and after another few minutes and when I'm about half way through breakfast another waitress walks over and ask me if I want anything to drink. I said an OJ. Finally, she brings it out about three minutes later and give the table to my left two more. This time I left no tip. I figured they didn't do anything to earn my money and 11 bucks for a buffet is way too expensive anyhow. It's eggs for Christ sake.
It's no wonder I hate this state so much. Nothing good ever happens in this place. I can't wait to leave tonight and I hope I have no reason to come back here until next year.
