So I've been hanging out with this really nice boy. I'm usually not crazy about boys, but he's really nice, and not the type that'll bullshit me or mess with me. He also makes killer tofu, and we're going to build a time machine this summer. Ah, we think alike.
I live downtown, within a block or two of almost ten bars. I live across the street from a hip-hop club, so I'm always seeing crazy stuff, but this beat it all.
The other night, near closing time, Chris and I saw five or six very drunk guys (in cowboys hats) trying to fight a homeless man. The man was a bit mentally unstable, but absolutely harmless. The guys cornered him, and kept punching him. All the while he was yelling at them to leave him alone, and trying to get away. The cops show up, slam the homeless guy against the hood of their car, and cuff him. They talked to the guys who were beating on him (they were uncuffed), then let them go. Chris ran down to talk to them and let them know what really happened, and how the drunk guys instigated it. They refused to listen to him, and maintained the story of the drunk guy (which was that they were just watching the crazy guy) even though they had not witnessed anything.
What do you do in a situation like this? I'm really upset that this man had little to no protection under the law just because he was poor and mentally unstable. The cops obviouslly don't give a shit; is there anyone I can tell so this stops happening? I'm sure that this is how it is other places too. Any advice, thanks.

Does Oly have a Cop Watch group? I can't remember. Get in touch with the Seattle Cop Watch folks, they'll send ya in the right direction concerning the incident you witnessed.
Cheers
