So, here I am in Asheville. Major snow is expected over the next couple of dats, just as my husband is driving up from Lauderdamndale to be with me. Good thing he drives a jeep.
Mom has been in hospice for a little over a week now, and the change in her health when I see her after a few hours of being away is absolutly staggering. She could hold a completely lucid conversation a week ago, but now she is borderline comatose. Shouldn't be long now. She woke up screaming in pain yesterday because the nurse let her sleep through time for her meds, so now they stick to the schedule and wake her up a litttle to give it to her. Liquid morphine, so the morphine dreams are starting, and i can't even imagine where she is in her head. Her 18 year old dachshund, the evil weasel died saturday.
For my next update I'll fill yall in on the greedy family nastiness that's making all this really fucking awful.
But the baby will be here in less than 48 hours, and all will be bearable. Especially since we will be staying in a 5 room suite in a gorgeous B&B called the Inn on Montford, which is walking distance from the hospice. People here are really nice. the lady that owns it is practically GIVING us the room, because of the situation, and my little dog is welcome. Comfort can only make things a little easier to deal with.
I'll miss her.
