I just got home (Kaiserslautern, Germany) from a weekend trip to Vienna, Austria. If I had to describe Vienna using only a single word, it would be without a doubt "gorgeous". Vienna is by far the most gorgeous city I have ever been too. My drive the Austria was absolutely breath-taking. Austria was the 10th country outside of the United States that I have had the privilege of traveling too, and it, by far, took the whole cake.
My trip to Vienna was to celebrate a distant cousin of mine's wedding. Now, the ceremony itself was nice (would have been better if I was more fluent in German... Mein Deutsch ist nicht sehr gut!!), but the reception was absolutely amazing! I had a blast. It started off by sharing a beer with a Great-Great Uncle and more cousin's than I could count. about an hour later, and 3 Austrian beers deep, we jumped on a bus for a guided tour of Vienna. Now, this wasn't an ordinary bus ride. No... My Austrian relatives, turns out, are just as big of partiers as I am. This guided tour actually a trivial drinking game; a correct answer won you a shot-sized bottle of Jagermeister! Me and my plus one were going nuts with everyone on the bus. It was excellent. The reception of the wedding was held at a local vineyard, who's specialty was strawberry wine. It was orgasmic! We did the formalities of kicking off the wedding reception, enjoyed some tasty local foods, and then the real party started! We were knocking back beers from Austria, Germany, and my personal favorite, Belgium. Belgian beer is the greatest in the world, no doubt about it! We partied late into the night; even had the groom standing on the table with us doing shots of Jager, yelling into the crowd, "I effing love these American party sharks!" It was a personal win for myself!
Overall, this last weekend was filled with unbelievably gorgeous buildings and sights, in a historically rich and wonderful city and country, and spent with friends and family who have given me memories I will cherish for the rest of my life. Vienna should be on the top 10 cities to visit of any avid adventurer. A visit to Austria's capital city will leave you breathless!
