8/13 Blog Homework!
New York ComicCon 2006 was my first convention. NYCC was small enough then that we bought tickets when we arrived on Saturday. Because of how small the convention was at the time, it was easy to see or run into celebrities. I had an amazing time with my friends. We got to chat with the creator of Invader Zim, Jonan Vasquez, and watch his panel. He answered a question I asked and I though it was the coolest thing that ever happened to me. Well, until later in the day that is. I ran into Hayden Panettiere in the bathroom at the height of her "Heroes" fame. But the coolest interaction I had was with Stan Lee. The con was so small it wasn't uncommon to be the only person in an entire aisle. I heard some cheers and clapping, so I turned around and there was Stan Lee being escorted by 4 Storm Troopers through the con. I stood there, like 50 feet away, jaw open and in shock. He made direct eye contact with me, gave me a small smile, and nodded to me to acknowledge my existence. Sempai noticed me 😱
Its one of my most vivid memories.
Every comic con for me has been peppered with beautiful memories. I have been to 10 NYCCs at this point and cannot wait to be able to afford more.
