Pulitzer Prize Luncheon
Today is one of my favorite days at work Pulitzer Prize luncheon day. I get to get dolled up. I get to eat yummy food. And I generally get to mingle with Pulitzer Prize-types. The keynote speaker at the Pulitzer luncheon was Henry Louis Gates, Jr. who is, amoung other things, wicked brilliant and someone that I've read extensively. He made a really great comment about how historians survived deconstructionism by realizing that while truth is elusive, that doesn't have to stop us from trying to illuminate the parts of it that we can find. It was a great point and he made it much better than I'm retelling. Made me want to study history again.
Double Yumminess
Today is even double-yummy because tonight my boss is taking us to have drinks at the New York Marriott Marquee lounge and then a Korean dinner. Yum! That Marquee lounge is fantasticone of those great New York City lounges at the top of a big ol tall building that rotates slowly to give a terrific view of midtown. Cool.
The Move To Atlanta
So, it is official. Im moving to Atlanta. The lovely folks of SGATLiens have opened their arms to me already. I feel so loved. Ill be moving out of the City at the beginning of July and going to spend a month traveling around visiting friends and family in NC and then off to Atlanta to move my stuff and my Fellas stuff into our (yet unfound) apartment. Hes getting off easy on this one! I get to do all the unpacking! Actually, I rather like that. I rather love playing housewife from time-to-time. I think one of the things that Im looking forward to the most is getting to cook for him everyday. Thats all Ive ever really wanted Okay, NOT. But it will still be great fun to have someone to eat all the stuff I cook. I dont enjoy just cooking for myself. Id rather just cook and egg and be done with it. Plus, the Fella really, truly enjoys my cooking. How did I get so lucky?
New Tattoo
Ive decided that I have to have Stephanie Tamez do one more tattoo session with me before I leave for Atlanta. Im going to add onto the tattoo that is on my left shoulder. There will be more leaves and vines coming up and over the shoulder and down onto the arm and then Im going to work in a magnolia flowerthis will be the first time Ive ever used any color. I want her to add in some pink shades to the center and edges of the magnolia flower. Im going to set up a consultation time today.

Sad Weekend
This weekend was kind of sad on many different levels. I finally realized at about midnight on Saturday that Im utterly done with my old life here in the City. Im going to miss the City like no ones business and Ill miss the new friends that Ive been makingespecially luna who has totally won over my heart with his charm, wit and snarkinessand Im partial to geeks anyway. :::giggle::: But I realized, standing in a bar on Saturday night, that Im actually not really sad about what Im leaving behind that this is a really, truly healthy move and that it is time to move on to the new. In many ways, Im bored and ready to be onto something new and while I could certainly find new friends to replace the ones that have moved and move into new areas of NYC lifeIm really pretty excited about do that all in Atlanta. My Fella hold my head in his lap on our way home from the bar and told me what Ive known all along friendships change and evolve and they rarely stay the same for many years, especially when youre in your early 20s. I know hes right, but damn it (!!!), it sucks to realize that special friendships have changed.
Photography School
Part of my excitement about Atlanta probably comes from my recent research into photography programs in Atlanta. If anyone has any insider tips on that topic let me know! Im taking advantage of my free year to study photography before I actually start law school in Atlanta. :::bounce, bounce:::
Of course, I still got all teary-eyed this morning when I took the train to work. I love the bustle! I love the subway! I love the City! (I do not love the man who almost dumped his awfully *girlie* looking coffee drink all over my beautiful, new, linen suit.
Subletters Found
On other news, I found a couple to sublet my room for 6 weeks starting in mid-June. That takes a LOT off my mind and will work out nicely because I will only have to cover half of the rent in June and they will cover the other half. That helps because I need to get a car when I get to NC and anything that I can save will help out with that. I cant believe Im actually going to have a car again! I LOVE to drive!
Slacker
I still havent ordered the Fellas graduation gift. I suck. :::sigh::: I have everything ready to order though.
