I just confirmed with Joe Pernice, rockster and author, and Sia Michel, editor in chief of Spin magazine, as the last two panelists for one of the events I'm producing. Love it. So I have Sasha Frere-Jones, pop music critic, The New Yorker; Knox Robinson, editor in chief, The Fader; Brandon Wall, editor in chief, prefixmag.com; Amy Phillips, blogger, moreinthemonitor.com; Kelefa Sanneh, pop music critic, The New York Times; Sia Michel and Joe Pernice. Not a bad line-up at all. That is one thing off the list. Except the list is longer now. I love my life. This is going to be a fun panel.
Lots of yummy chicken and cabbage soup in my universe. Per several requests...
Cook a chicken. A big one. 6 pds or more.
Pour all the juice into a soup pot.
Add just as much water.
Chop one head of cabbage. Add.
Grate a few carrots. Add.
Chop a few celery stalks. Add.
Add 5-6 drops of Oil of Oregano.
Add a dash or two of salt (helps soften the cabbage)
Add pepper and thyme as desired.
Heat to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. The longer you simmer the better. Soup gets better with time. Simmer a few hours. Stick the whole pot in the fridge (covered) and tomorrow you can warm it up and you're ready to go. It is thick enough that it is heartier than soup which also makes it really easy to take to work. Cabbage is good for you. Anyway, that is my super easy soup recipe for those of you who were talking about dishes to take to work. I've been eating my latest pot since Monday. Lunch and dinner. I'm about ready to make something new! giggle. But I have no time so leftovers are crucial for me. Plus, it is nice to have a warm lunch. Makes me happy.
So my hard-drive went loopy last night. I have to send it to the Mac doctors today. I will be computerless for almost a week. Yikes! No internet at home. Whimper. That's okay. Two of my siblings will be up next week and I'll be dragging them all over the place.
My father will be here Saturday. We're going to matinee of The Producers (his pick), dinner at a fru-fru restaurant where I have an "in" with the chef (=yummy special treats) and then...I'm taking him to hear Danny Tenaglia spin because my father has this weird thing for D.T. I swear. You couldn't drag me to Crobar, but anything for my papa.
I ran into Richard Butler at Luna last night. He asked about my sister. I took my sister to her first rock'n'roll show when she was 14. How cool a tale will she have? Her first rock show: The Psychedelic Furs and she got to go backstage (I think I earned greatest big-sister of all time for that one.) She's 15 now and I have this feeling that if she moved to the City she's be a big groupie. I'll have to keep an eye on here when she's here next week. Just so you know, The Psychedelic Furs are the nicest bloaks. Really sweet. They are playing at The Supper Club on April 5, I think.
So Southpaw is fantastic. Here are just a few shows that are coming up next month that I will definitely be at:
4/9 Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings
4/11 M. Ward
4/17 The Undertones
4/18 Ben Lee
Not so much else for the moment. Plus, my conference call is over. Back to work.

VERY COOL LINE-Up for the panel. I'd never heard of moreinthemonitor but that is really just the best url ever.
