Thanksgiving
When I was in college my university never had Columbus Day off because it was considered un-PC. There were always a lot of fliers up around the school this time of year protesting the celebration of "mass murder," ie. Thanksgiving. Being a history major I understood where these concerned students were coming from, but banning pecan pie in the cafeteria really didn't seem like it would make up for much. (Note: the pecan pie in the cafeteria should have been banned for other reasons though...)
So tonight I will make several pecan pies. Tomorrow I will make sweet potato pies. And Thursday I will eat neither. Sometimes, being diabetic really sucks. But watching other people enjoy pie almost makes up for it. Okay, who am I kidding. BOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
I'm watching the first season of West Wing. I just saw the episode where the homeless veteran dies from exposure. I was too choked up to talk by the end. That was a tear-jerker. Also made me dig through my closet and pull out my old winter coat that I don't wear anymore and take it to the coat drive at school.
So while I don't see what giving up pecan pie will do about the masses of murdered Native-Americans, I do think that doing something nice for someone else will do a lot... Donate a coat, drop off a can of food, maybe even invite someone to Thanksgiving dinner who might not have any where else to spend it. Those are the things that really make a difference. But do not ban the pecan pie.

gah im so tortured! i love dramatic lighting and heavy make up/fashiony looking stuff but sg hates stuff like that. i dont know what to do!
