My New Obsession
Has anyone tried this? You all know my fascination with TAB...so this is just too much...I have to have it. Someone needs to send me one... I looked in like five delis today, but no luck... :pout:
This Is A Brain Flash
I don't have anything to listen to...40+Gs of iTunes and NADA.
So, I propose the following:
You send me a mixed CD (with a track list and cover art) and I'll send you one back within a week.
Just e-mail me through the contact button and I'll send you a mailing address.
Let the flying tunes begin... DireChocobo has already promised me one. Bounce!
Realizations
I realized last night that the one thought that makes me happier than any other is the thought of still crawling into bed with S. when Im old and wrinkled and saggy. I mean, hopefully, Ill never get a wrinkle or get saggy, but if that isnt the caseI know without a hint of doubt that even when S.s hands are wrinkled and oldeven if they have age spotsthere will never be other hands that can hold me the way he does or hands or whispers or words or a smile that can make me as satisfied and truly happy as his do. Is that morbid to think about your lovers hands being old? Oddly, it just makes me insanely happyto think that I could still be holding them even when theyre old.
Snowboarding Excitement
S. and I are going up to Vermont this weekend to go SNOWBOARDING! Im very excited about it. Ive only been once before last year but it was instantly thrilling. I used to feel that way about riding, before my accident, but hadnt felt anything like that mad, rushing, pounding thrill since. Id missed that feelingthe rush. Im so excited to get to go again! Of course, this means that since the house will be full of folks who are rather good snowboarders and as the token total newbie I will be the one who cant walk without flinching on Sunday after a day on the mountain and everyone will laugh at me. Ill just have to pack really kickass pink lipstick so that I look cute while limping around
this seems like an excellent place to put in another picture of me enjoying the sunny Caribbean beach
Speaking Of Looking Cute
I just ordered myself the very snazzy, very cute, very sexy SG hoodie. Ive wanted that hoodie ever since I saw it months ago Now, it is on its way to me!
There are going to be some other fun things in that shipment, tooand no, the other things arent for methey are for folks who have been ultra niceor maybe ultra naughty (and I loved them for it!) this year
Tying Myself Up
is not as much fun as someone else tying me up
BUT
I digress
it is fun to play with new yarn. I stopped by Stitch Therapy in Park Slope after I went to the gym today and picked out some new yarn and a crochet hook.
Mle and jessikaaaa have convinced me to trade in my knitting needles for a crochet hook this winter. Well see how that goesit is daunting to even start when Ive been fixating on the amazing creations of Ms. Twinkie. Seriously, her amazing scarves are the coolest things in the world. They are second only to really randy sex at keeping ones neck warm. You might even try wearing one during sexbut that much heatprobably not good for the ticker.
Internship
I'm learning a lot. There is something dead on about the general impression that fashion photographers are "difficult" and bitchy. That is all I have to say about that. But I'm learning a lot...and not just how to bite my tongue. Hands-on is THE way to learn. At least for me.
New Yummy Recipe
I haven't posted a recipe in a long time...so here goes...this is really yummy. I just made it again a ferw days ago. Great for winter time...
Creamy Butternut Squash Soup
1 small butternut squash, peeled and seeded and cut into 1 pieces (about 1 1/4 pounds)
2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 yellow summer squash, cut into 1" pieces (about 1 1/4 pounds)
1/4 cup onion, sliced (about 1/2 small onion)
1 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice (see tip)
1 tablespoon tomato paste
2 1/2 cans (14 1/2 ounces each) vegetable or reduced-sodium chicken broth
1/2 cup heavy cream
salt and freshly ground black pepper
Sour cream (optional)
Pumpkin seeds, toasted (optional)
Preheat oven to 450F. Toss butternut squash with 1 tablespoon oil and half of the salt and pepper. Arrange in a single layer on a baking sheet and roast, turning once, until slightly softened, about 15 minutes.
Toss yellow squash and onions with remaining oil, salt and pepper. Add to baking sheet with butternut squash and continue roasting until all vegetables are tender, about 20 more minutes.
In a large saucepot over medium heat, saut pumpkin pie spice with tomato paste, stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add roasted vegetables and broth. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer 20 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in cream. Pure soup with an immersion blender (or in a regular blender in batches)
Season to taste with additional salt and pepper. Garnish with sour cream and toasted pumpkin seeds, if desired.
Cat Nap Time
All this cuddliness makes me ready for a cat napperhaps with my snuggly nap pal, Burke
