Late comment from me too. Selfish? No, you let him go - for his sake, not for your own. Thats the opposite of selfish. If the two of you still like each other, he might end up being your life long friend and soulmate. My ex and I was together for 6 years, and the World ended for me when we split - was my feeling. But of course the World didn't end. It was 30 years ago, and my ex has now been my best friend for most of a lifetime. True friendship is underrated - it is at least as good as true love.
