Well...my roommate and I tried to introduce our cats last night. His is a 4 month old male that he just brought home from the shelter a few days ago. Mine is a 4 year old female, who has never encountered another animal since she was a kitten. We read the guides and did the whole separation and slow introduction steps like covering towels with their scents and putting the towels in the other cat's rooms.
When we first put them down, the kitten just ran right up to Her Majesty and smelled her. Things seemed to be going okay, then came the growling and hissing from my cat. When I went to pick her up, she slashed me across the face...that will be a wound I'll have to explain to everyone I encounter today. Turns out there was another step we shoulda done...introduce them through doors...put them in a place where thdey can see and smell each other, but not fight. All I wanna do is avoid more slashes across the face.
Otherwise, things are going well. I'm feeling fairly healthy, though I think it's time to seriously go on a diet. Work is fine. I think I've already made some enemies though. The problem stems from me being pulled into meetings without any idea what the agendas are and being asked direct questions by our president...and I'm the type to give him very direct and honest answers, to the best of my knowledge. Though no one contests that I'm right, I feel a certain amount of resentment from those on the receiving end. On one hand, I'd love to be more diplomatic and just go to them directly with my opinions...on the other hand, I don't like concelaing the truth or lefting things unsaid...and I sure as hell am not going to insult the president of our company with an evasive answer. I dunno...only been at the job 9 or so weeks now...I love it, but I feel bad that there are people that cringe every time I walk into a room. =/
