"Are you serious?! The fighting only lasted 3 hours, how in the world... All of them?! Even the... Alright, alright. I know you have satellite. Keep it on them. Report back if anything changes." General Harris hangs up the phone with a heavy sigh.
"Mr. President I just received confirmation. The aliens have utterly annihilated all of North Korea's military assets. Every soldier, facility and vehicle has been eliminated."
"We need a defense strategy." replied the Secretary of Defense. "How do we defend ourselves from these aliens?"
"We don't." general Harris answered with a scoff.
"Excuse me? With all due respect, general..."
"They wiped out an entire military in 3 hours! It would take us months to do that if we could do it at all!" General Harris shouted.
"Gentlemen, lady, please. We can't solve this problem by arguing among ourselves. And the General is right, a military option is completely off the table. These aliens are clearly far too powerful." the President interrupted.
"How do we engage in diplomacy with these beings? If they say no to our demands we have no way to enforce them without some kind of presence of strength." the Secretary of State stated.
"We'll cross that bridge when we get to it. For now, these aliens seem content to remain within the formerly recognized borders of North Korea. I think our number one priority is to convince them that's the best compromise and hope they agree."
"Mr. President we can't just abandon the North Korean people. We have no idea what kind of horrors they'll be subjected to under these aliens."
"Actually, we have no reason to believe so far that they're being mistreated at all. I just received intelligence that the North Korean labor camps have been evacuated. We have no idea as to the status of the prisoners but the camps so far are completely abandoned." General Harris added.
"You honestly mean to tell me that these aliens are doing the North Korean people a favor by ransacking their country?" The Secretary of Defense shook his head. "I refuse to believe that."
"The facts of the matter, John is that the aliens have disbanded the labor camps which is something we've been wanting for decades. Now I agree that we should reserve judgement until we learn the status of the prisoners but at this point I'm willing to take any good news we can get." the President started to pace in the situation room.
"Gentlemen, lady we have an unprecedented situation here. We now have to decide if we support the devil we know or the demon we don't."
