You know the kind. It pops into your head one day, out of the blue. No real reason for it but it tickles your fancy so you let it marinate in your brain for a bit. You come up with different variations on it but in the end you don't really think much of it so you let it fade away.
But then it comes back.
And then it comes back again.
Finally, you realize this idea is burning a hole in your mind that you have to fix so what do you do? You put pencil to paper or fingers to keyboard and hammer that idea out. You have to get this idea into the real world in some way and you'll figure the rest out later. You make sketches or type drafts or record clips and take notes. LOTS of notes. You hammer it out for a while. You put it down and then get back to it later. How much later? Who gives a fuck? This idea has taken on a life of it's own. It's creating you rather than the other way around. Next thing you know you've got what you think is a workable concept that you can start planning on making in earnest. Maybe it turns into a novel, a painting, a web comic, a blog post, a video, whatever your creative outlet is.
Have you ever had an idea like that? Cause I just did.
Stay tuned.
