Star Wars, Star Trek, The original Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, Avatar, Aliens, Lost in Space the tv show, The Outer Limits, The Twilight Zone, the list goes on and on. I love science fiction with all my heart. I grew up reading nothing but. Science fiction has undoubtedly helped shape my world view and warms my heart to this very day.
So why then, out of all the ideas I've shown you are none of them science fiction? Well, I take that back, P.E.R.F.E.C.T. has some science fiction elements to it but the bulk of the story is actually a court room scene, much like the end of the failed "Bicentennial Man." Aside from that though I have no science fiction stories and not one story that takes place off the planet Earth. Why?
I am totally fascinated by space and space exploration. I love science and I always have. It only makes sense that I would write science fiction in fact looking in the mirror its a wonder I write anything but. Somehow, other genres (mainly comic books) took over in my creative consciousness as I created more and more stories.
So as I look at the long list of story ideas I'm absolutely flabbergasted that nothing takes place in space or that there aren't more stories from the far future. Perhaps I should drop a story? Maybe even change an existing one in some way? It wouldn't be hard. I mean imagine if Merrywidow or Tekbat were to take place on a space colony in orbit.
I need to get writing.
