So after I did some research I found I could take public transit to work. Not sure why it never occurred to me to do that before, I vaguely remember my wife looking it up and deciding it wasn't worth it. I guess the routes and times have changed quite considerably since then. Anyways, after I figured out I could have my transit costs covered by my employer it became a no-brainer and today is the first day I get to try it. Money wise we aren't saving anything this week, my clipper card doesn't arrive until the 1st of Dec. and I filled my wife's gas tank yesterday. Next week, however, we should see some real savings. My long week (when I work four days, 12 hours shifts) we usually spend somewhere around $70-80 in gas. I'm expecting to only have to pay $32 that week. The week following, my short week (3 days) I'll only pay $24 when we would normally spend around $60. Once the month of Dec. rolls in I'll pay nothing. :) So let's see, ($75 X 2) + ($60 X 2) = $270 going right into our pockets. :) Merry X-mas to us.
