To say I celebrate Valentine's Day is like saying Bill Maher celebrates Lent. Generally I hate VD day because in my eyes is nothing more than an excuse for corporations to try and get you to spend money. Not only that but the shear idea behind it is silly at best. Save one day each yeah to tell that special someone how much you love them, yeah right. What about the other 364 days of the year? I mean unless you only date someone on VD day then it seems pretty stupid to wait until then to give gifts or do something special. My wife put it best yesterday: "I like when you surprise me." To be honest I like surprising her too but how can I do that when there is a "special day" set aside for just such a thing? How can it be a surprise when you know what day its coming on? And for that matter who the Fuck is St. Valentine anyway? No one knows hell even the churches don't give a shit about him/her (although knowing the church its most likely a him) because they do nothing to celebrate VD day. All we really know is that some Cherub named Cupid (The name for the Roman god of love given the form of a pagan symbol to celebrate a Christian holiday. Irony party of three your table is ready.) runs around with a bow and arrow shooting people that he wants to make fall in love. Well there's shooting involved so I can see why America loves the idea so much but come on folks...
Still waiting for the job at Tesla to start. The manager is having trouble getting me and the other candidates approved. Apparently he's pushing pretty hard for us to get hired on because the company is falling behind right now. My rep at the temp agency is pretty confident that I'm going to get hired on and he tells me its a matter of when rather if. I'm a little nervous because I really, really, really want this job and it would suck to loose it because of the bean counters. To be honest though my rep is really confident and he hasn't let me down yet so my confidence is still really high.
I have regained my love for online sim racing. I was doing sim racing for a while about a year ago but I stopped because I wasn't very good when compared to the other players. Whenever I played Gran Turismo or Need for Speed games I was always destroying the AI drivers and most of the human competitors I raced against so I thought I would kick but in a hard core race sim. Boy was I wrong, wrong, wrong. So far I have yet to even crack the top ten and I only made the top fifteen once (out of 18-22 players). That was a pretty big blow to my ego so I stopped and shifted to offline racing for a while. Some other issues came up which kept me out as well but thankfully all that's been resolved. I acknowledge that when compared to the other drivers I pretty much suck but I'm okay with that now. I wanted a challenge and I got it so its time to stop whining and go for it.
