One thing I hate about movie characters these days is how fucking humble they make the main character out to be, especially with superhero movies. They get all these powers and the only thing they do is bitch and moan about it and say dumb shit like "I'm not worthy". Not only does it make the movie lame, it's also completely unrelatable for us as the audience. Lets take a look a Clash of the Titans, old vs. new (just because that's what made me thought of this, just go with it).
In the new one, Perseus kept whining about how he didn't want to be half-god, he didn't want to use anything they gave him, blah, blah, blah. Bullshit. If I found out I was half god and was given great powers I'd freaking use them! Look at the old Perseus, when he was given the helmet that made him invisible what did he do? He was so stoked he left the other stuff and he crept into some chicks bedroom and watched her for an hour. That's probably what I'd do! (you would too) Way more relatable, way more likeable character, and he also had a charisma that the new one just doesn't compare to.
Why are all these movie characters little whiny stupid emo bitches when the only thing it does is make the movie lame? My guess, they want more shit to explain. This leads me to another movie rant, what is with filmmakers trying to explain everything. Do they think everyone in the audience is fucking retarded? The Dark Knight was an awesome movie, I enjoyed the hell out of it but take a look at the ending. How many times to they have to say that stupid line about Batman being the hero the city needs, or deserves, or whatever that shit was? I was so sick of it that the end of the film was ruined for me. The same goes for that line about dying a hero or living to become a villain. They don't have to reiterate it at the end, we are not idiots, we can get the connection on our own without having to hear it again at the end.
I wish filmmakers would go back to things being subtle, they just don't do it anymore. Another new thing they are doing now is trying to make shit EPIC, Ever since the Lord of the Rings, everyone wants to make non-epic stuff epic and because they want to explain shit they make it stupid. Even LOTR fell into that trap by the end, how many endings did they need? 1,2? no. 15,000! Just in case you didn't realize just how epic it was. I was reminded of this watching Thor.
Thor is an awesome character and genuinely has an epic quality to him but they stopped the movie about 357 times to go into this slow-everything is epic-mo.

. Epic. They don't need Natalie Portman's face plastered over the screen and her witty comment about how he really is a hero. No Shit lady, take it in, don't ruin it for the rest of us who are watching the SAME SHIT. We know it's epic, we want to enjoy it, not be reminded of it as it's happening. Of course that's not Natalie's fault (because she rocks) it's the director's fault. Grow some balls and take a chance guys!
