I'm fucking pissed! I just watched a really good movie with a really shitty end. I am down with movies that kill off the main characters, I really don't care if they Reservoir Dogs the entire cast. If it's a slasher movie I may even root for the killer. What I don't like is spending 2 hours, having the movie draw me into the characters and their struggles, and they fail at the end. I especially hate when they come so close so many times and are stopped by minute barriers that would easily be overcome if the characters weren't so stupid. 2 hours waiting for them to succeed just so they fail? Ass! There is nothing good or deep about endings like this, it just wastes the entire point of watching.
There where two movies that stick out when I think of this filth, both involve movies I wanted mainly because my favorite actresses where in it. One is Prime with Uma Thurman. A romance movie that had very interesting trials and tribulations.

By the end Uma and her interest work out all their differences, they learn all they need to and are perfectly ready to settle down with each other. Unfortunately the director thought it would be funny or different (both retarded) to have them leave each other for good. Why? They where both in love, there was no point to it and the movie never gave an explanation.
What Bullshit.
The movie I just finished was After.life with Christina Ricci. I saw the trailer and thought "Awesome, a horror movie about life and death itself with my favorite actress" Sadly I was disappointed again. Christina spends the whole movie being told shes dead when shes really drugged by a psychotic doctor and about to be buried.

The entire movie builds up to where you're hoping her boyfriend will finally save the day. He comes close several times but in the end they both die. Why did you make me watch this dammit! There actually was a theme in this one but they could just as easily let her live and get the point across. The ending they went with actually steers away from the theme and boils it down to a fucking psycho who is never gets caught.
Like I said, I don't mind watching movies with twist endings or where everyone dies. I just get pissed when movies have a clear goal that is never fulfilled. I get they may want to emphasize a theme but it makes me think less of the theme and more how 2 hours of my life went unfulfilled. I might just as well go jerk off, keeping myself at the edge of cumming for 2 hours but deciding not to. Maybe I am biased because my favorite actress dies in the movie or my brain is just in shock from movies not following the traditional American formula of struggle, conquer, happy ending. I don't know, but I'm not happy. What do you think about movies with endings like this, does it piss you off or make you think?
